Finally, Spring. I feel movement and a cautious release into new beginnings. Do you feel it?
I’m thrilled to announce that Foreword Reviews has chosen Temple Dancer as a finalist in the 2020 Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards!
You’ll find Saraswati’s story here in Religious Adult Fiction. Though I wouldn’t call it religious, it IS a novel of spiritual awakening, sacred sexuality and intimate and eternal connection.
Temple Dancer is steeped in yoga philosophy and spirituality. What do you think? Does that make it religious? Whether religious, sacrilegious or a mystery enveloped in magic realism, I’m proud to be a finalist. The Finalists were determined by Foreword’s editorial team. Winners are now being decided by teams of librarian and bookseller judges from across the country. Help me celebrate & spread the word! Winners will be announced June 17th, 2021.
And there’s more…
Temple Dancer will soon be released on Audible! I’m excited that actor Daisy Fair has finished the narration. I spent many hours reviewing before I approved her reading today. Her acting drew me in. In fact, I was so engrossed in some of the scenes that I forgot I wrote them! There were moments that made me hold my breath. There were moments that made me cry.
Stay tuned for a Soundcloud sample next week. The Audiobook will be available in May.
Here are some quick media reviews:
“Thoroughly entertaining and engaging … An original and extraordinary literary experience that effectively showcases Amy Weintraub’s impressive flair … especially and unreservedly recommended.” Midwest Book Review
“Entwined, Saraswati’s and Wendy’s stories make a richly detailed novel, informed by authentic Indian classical dance and spiritual practice; and made complex by cultural differences, mores, and sexual manners.” Arizona Daily Star
“Gorgeous and ambitious…Temple Dancer, Amy Weintraub’s astonishing new novel, evokes the power of a lost spiritual tradition through the story of two disparate women: a disgraced temple dancer from 1930s India, and a contemporary artist in Massachusetts.” Foreword Reviews
