Who is the “I am” you tell yourself you are? What is your mission—your dharma, your raison d’être?
The journey begins by discovering who this “I am” truly is. It isn’t as hard as it seems when you have tools that help clear the constrictions of story and mood. Even for a moment, you can glimpse your own true nature.
True nature is called by many names in many cultures. But it is not just a concept. Thoughts and beliefs about true nature are still too small to contain it. True nature is a felt sense—wordless and profound.
Paths and Silence
My own journey of discovery has followed many paths. What they share is a settling into the silence of waiting. Some traditions call this meditation, some call it prayer.
Yet how do we settle when the mind is restless? There are practical tools across traditions to help us return to stillness. The yoga-based methods that have served me, and thousands of my students and colleagues, come from several lineages in India.
Teachers, Shadows, and Power
Over the years, I’ve been questioned for not following a single path, guru, or spiritual master. It’s a fair question. Many have awakened under the guidance of enlightened teachers—and many have also been harmed by teachers who have not done the emotional work required for leadership. Enlightenment does not exempt one from the human shadow.
The question, then, is not only about awakening, but about the use of power and responsibility that follow it.
Healing and Reclaiming Mission
I have learned deeply from several spiritual masters, and I have loved them. I have also been hurt by two.
When I began teaching after those betrayals, I stepped outside the expected line. I gathered the tools that helped me recover from a debilitating depression—tools that helped me manage my mood and stay connected to my purpose. Yes, my mission evolves, but my passion has remained constant: to share the yoga-based tools that help restore balance, clarity, and connection to true nature.
I’ve adapted these methods so that those outside traditional lineages—healthcare and mental health professionals, seekers, and anyone yearning to live in alignment—can access and apply them.

For me, home is where our true nature lies. But why not bring that access home?
When I launched LifeForce Yoga, my intention was simple—to share my enduring love for the practices that helped me find steadiness and light amid darkness. In doing so, I hoped to nurture a community of kindred souls who, like me, believe that awakening begins within. From this place of inner connection, love naturally extends outward—to our work, our relationships, and the world we share.
Love, Amy
