As I drove back and forth across the country in sometimes searing and unexpected heat this summer, the physical beauty of our country often brought moments of tearful prayers—gratitude was often in my heart’s mind.

I’m back in Tucson now, and I fall asleep replaying precious memories with family, with friends and with my colleagues and students at Kripalu. Love guides me, breathes through me, and that is what I see reflected back in the eyes of those I meet. Most of the time. But not always.

Daily life is not without setbacks, annoyances and disappointments and there were moments of these too. Living in acceptance means that I trust in the order of things. The minor irritations have their place, like thorns on a fragrant rose. I have the freedom to see through the eyes of love, even as I witness the suffering of beloved family members and friends who face unfathomable loss. I know that I sit with and serve them best when I love them, not when I try to fix or lessen their grief.

This summer has been one of the best in my many years of traveling back and forth across the country.

I ask myself why.

Maybe I’ve learned that the formula for this trip, like the formula for life has been to start with awe-inspiring nature that evokes gratitude, to see the precious beings whom I meet through the eyes of love and to cultivate an acceptance of it all.

My daily practices have brought me to this place of contentment. They have been a gift and I offer this simple sequence to you.

This video is obviously a younger me, and I recommend cactus arms rather than full arms in the flying cow part, but I still practice these six movements of the spine, and flying cow, each day, along with sphinx pose. For me this is a portal into my meditation practice.

My on-demand courses also offer guided practices for clearing inner space so intuition and compassion can take root in everyday life. I’m grateful to be sharing this evolving work in community, where breath, movement, and meditation become practical tools for emotional balance and spiritual resilience—steady companions for uncertain times.
